full of surprises and as events unfold the NATO Forum on
Energy Security* will respond. Succinctly, directly and
without hesitation, the global system urgently needs forums
like this to decide how to build resiliency into the energy
systems we already have, how to diversify transportation
corridors to mitigate the use of oil as a tool for political
leverage, and how to consider what preventative and response
strategies need to be built in order to protect all
civilizations from the insecurity of having too little
energy so vitally necessary for so many purposes.”

renamed to "Global Energy Security Summit Process"
Global Energy Security Summit (GESSP)
The GESS is in follow-up to the process begun with the first
“The NATO Forum on Energy Security
Technology” under
the Direction of Dr. Kevin Rosner and
Dr. Grygoriy Nemyria
in February 2006 in Prague, Czech Republic.
That Forum engaged +150 representatives from over 32
countries in informative discussions, workshops, and plenary
sessions on the defence and security implications of energy
and its vulnerabilities. Representative speakers included
the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, the Polish Deputy
Minister of Economy, the Deputy Commander of US European
Command, Mr. Robert McFarlane former Director, US National
Security Council, Mr. Robert Bell, former Assistant
Secretary General, NATO among many others.
Center for ENERGY DEFENCE members will be kept abreast and
asked to engage in the GESSP with special sponsorship
packages and programs made available for them. The first
official GESS is tentatively scheduled for spring 2007 in
Washington DC. |
